be sure to remove the # symbols from around the user and password so it should like as follows : this is an example using a fictitious login credential.
Url=htttps://john.doe:mypassword123@gmail.google.com/gmail/feed/atom
Do not remove the : symbol separating the user and password. you do not have to use @gmail.com with the user name.
i made the exact modifications above and the skin worked exactly as described.
good luck.
again i will use CAPITALS and Smiles to indicate the changes to make.
for the skin to retrieve or "update" its self nice and quick like make a change to where it says #Messageinterval#.
if when you first set up the skin and it is working, you may notice that when you click on the envolope, to the left it will say "Message InboxUSERNAME" (substitute USERNAME with your username) and you may notice that there is no spacing between this. to fix that there is another #user# that needs to be modified and instead place your username there.
again, this code does not work that i am posting in this comment, as it has been modified to shorten up the comment.

set the message interval value to a comfortable update rate for you. i have set mine to 10, which equates to 10 seconds ( i like knowing exactly when mail comes in
